A Fresh Horizon
A family friend of our client painted this oil painting of a fishing boat on a rocky sea. After a stint tucked away in a basement it was time to give this painting a new life. A fair amount of “junk” (a totally not technical term our conservator used) came off of the painting in the cleaning process which helped the blues be even more vivid.
If you were to take a look at paintings of boats in a museum like the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, you might notice some fabric next to the canvas in the form of a linen liner. To frame this painting we opted to call back to a more traditional framing style with a linen liner. However the blue walnut frame adds a pop of color and modernity to spice things up a bit.
